A dream, nearly 13 years in the making, is finally realized.
Katie’s Cup is happy to announce that we are “turning an exciting page” in our history as we launch an independent bookstore inside the coffee bar! The addition of a bookstore helps us highlight local issues, uplift under-represented and under-served voices within our community, and showcase local authors. We are building on our mission by uplifting literary voices, supporting a diversity of people and thought, reflecting community concerns, speaking to a variety of points of view, and highlighting talent from within our local region.
When Katie’s Cup first opened in January 2009, plans were already in the works to integrate a bookstore element into our original business model. But, as time went on, the demands of our day-to-day operations, manpower, and focus shifted to meet the community’s more immediate needs and the changing business landscape. The dream of a bookshop was slowly moved to the back burner of future planning.
Until now…
As of Saturday, October 30, 2021, Katie’s Cup can officially add the title of “Bookstore” to the list of programs and services we offer for everyone in the Midtown District and surrounding area. Through this new venture, in combination with our Midtown Free Library, we are able to supply everyone in the Rockford region and beyond books at every accessible price point; mint condition new books, gently-loved used books, and free books and magazines. Book genres cover a wide-variety of titles and options including favorite children’s books and classics, inspiring young adult, thought-provoking issues of the day, uplifting book club selections, indulgent “beach reads”, and much more. We are also excited to highlight local authors in their very own section of the bookstore!
The bookstore is open during Katie’s Cup’s normal business hours of Mondays – Fridays 8am-4pm and Saturdays 9am-1pm.

Do you have a book club? Contact us and let us know what books you’re reading. We will highlight your book selections in our store to make obtaining a copy easy for your members. Need a larger supply of books? Give us a call and let us help with ordering!
Can’t make it into Katie’s Cup during business hours? Want to order books online? No problem! Shop for all of your favorite book titles in our Bookshop.org online store anytime day or night and have them shipped directly to you. As an affiliate of Bookshop.org, Katie's Cup receives 30% of every purchase made through our online shop and offers a vast array of options for our patrons.
Are you a local author and would like to have your book included in our store? Head to our Author Submission Portal for all of the details. Just fill out the form and drop off a copy of the book(s) you are interested in showcasing at Katie’s Cup. Our review committee will contact you within 10 business days of receipt of products with further details of any next steps.
We are also developing plans for book signings, author reading events, and release parties in the future. More to come in the next few months!
